Aubrey “Howard” Millner, Sr., 78, of Lynchburg, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014. He was the loving husband of Lera Smith Millner for 54 years.
Born April 19, 1936; a son of the late Thomas Jefferson Millner and Malvinnia Milton Millner.
Howard served in the United States Army and was an active member and sang in the choir for Thomas Road Baptist Church. He was an Account Executive with Lewis-Goetz until his retirement. In recent years he went to work for Lynchburg Wholesale Florist.
In addition to his wife, Howard is survived by his son, Aubrey Howard Millner, Jr. of London, KY; a daughter, Shawna Spencer (Tim) of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Timmy and wife Kayla, Tyler, Trent, Troy, Trey, Jonathan, Brian, and Sophia; one great-grandson, Shane; three sisters, Shirley Morris, Ruby Elliott both of Lynchburg, and Sarah Millner of Memphis, TN.
Howard was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Millner; two brothers, Franklin and Morris; and one sister, Eliza.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 9, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at The Pate Chapel at Thomas Road Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
