Barbara Ann Eggleston, 88, of Goode, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022, peacefully at home with her daughter. Born October 17, 1933 in Lynchburg VA, Mrs. Eggleston was the daughter of the late Raymond L. Scott Sr. and Katherine Virginia Wood. She was the devoted wife of the late George C. Eggleston Jr. for over sixty-four years who preceded her in death in 2015. She was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Scott Eggleston, two brothers, Raymond L. Scott, Jr., Charles M. Scott Sr., a sister, Mary Lou Miller and her beloved dog Dudley.
Mrs. Eggleston is survived by her daughter, TammieLee Eggleston-Wooldridge, husband William “Tommy” Wooldridge of Bedford and grandson Thomas Scott Eggleston Wooldridge of Houston TX; a sister-in-law, Dorothy C. Scott Millner of Knoxville, TN; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Anne Brown Eggleston of Forest, VA; 2 grandchildren, Taylor Anne Hacker, husband Jerry of Bedford Va; Joshua Cabell Eggleston of Forest VA, as well as two great granddaughters, Mallarie Nikole Eggleston and Parker May Eggleston; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Mrs. Eggleston attended E.C. Glass High School and worked in her early days of marriage as a secretary for Nationwide Insurance, later becoming a stay at home mother of 2. She loved her flower gardens, cooking, canning & freezing the garden vegetables, decorating the home, crocheting, organizing the family photo albums, vacations at the beach and time spent at the family lake home. Mrs. Eggleston had a particularly close relationship with her mother, sister and brothers. Spoke often of her dear mother that passed away, way too young, prior to her own physical decline. She was the family chauffer for all the many trips to see her sister and brother’s family in Wytheville and Bland, VA.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Troy E. Mays officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg and other times at the residence.
