Barbara Ann Scott Witt

Barbara Ann Scott Witt, 81, of Bedford, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014 peacefully in her sleep at her residence. She was born August 14, 1933 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Henrey Dew Scott and Mabel Elizabeth Bibb Scott.
Barbara was a member of Bedford Christian Church where she was formerly a choir director and Sunday school teacher. She was a retired Personnel Director of Owens-Illinois.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis “Dickie” Edward Witt. She is survived by a daughter, Shelby Witt Klaiber and her husband, Mike of Bedford; two grandchildren, Chris Klaiber and Jessica Klaiber; three great-grandchildren, Haley, Madison, and Emily Klaiber all of Bedford; a sister, Nancy Burnette of Goode; two brothers, William Scott of Bedford and Douglas Scott of Falls Church; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Barbara’s life will be conducted at 2 PM, Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Rev. William H. Moore, Rev. Kenneth E. Burger, and Rev. Al Burnette officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Friday, December 12, 2014 at Tharp Funeral Home.
