Barbara graduated from E. C. Glass High School and studied business administration at Lynchburg College where she received many academic honors. Barbara was a very successful business woman, yet she found her service in her church the most rewarding.   She was a charter member of Leawood Baptist Church and over the years filled numerous roles including Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher and Bible School director to mention just a few.  She also enjoyed being a member of the church choir for many years.  Barbara realized the importance of missions and over the years graciously spent many hours working with the Women\"™s Missionary Union, Girls in Action, and Acteens.  Barbara loved working with children and continued to work in the church nursery until recent months.  Even as Barbara\"™s health failed her, she looked forward to attending church each Sunday.  She was blessed to have \"the watchful eye\" of her church family as they lovingly assisted her at church services and functions.    Barbara will be most remembered for her sweet and gentle spirit; she loved everyone and exemplified the Christian life for all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Nearly twenty \""five years ago, Barbara was instrumental in establishing a group of business women who met regularly to share ideas to improve business practices.  From that organization, a small group of ladies branched off to form their own sisterhood for which they referred to themselves as the \"Magnolias\".  The family would like to thank Judy Berryman, Becky Coates, Norma Tuggle, Joyce Tyree and especially Gail Gray for being such faithful friends to Barbara during the many of years of her illness.

The family would like to express great appreciation to Barbara's caretaker, Dianna Fortune and her family who all loved "Miss Barbara" and took excellent care of her.
