February 7, 1935 — July 5, 2018

Barbara Gawlik Carmagnola, 83, of Amherst, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018. She was the wife of the late Michael J. Carmagnola, Sr.

She was born on February 7, 1935 in New York City, the daughter of the late Alexander Gawlik and the late Olga Daab Gawlik.

Barbara, being a New York native, had an affinity for culture and food, especially Polish and Italian foods. She was an amazing cook and mastered her skills by creating many family favorites. She enjoyed entertaining for many beloved guests, always cooking extra for others. Many of her recipes are still used today by family and friends. She met her husband, Mike, at the bowling alley from where they fell in love and began their life and family together. She loved to read, to travel, to watch game shows and sci-fi movies. She was a very independent, loyal, selfless, and strong woman. She loved life and lived every day to the fullest, leaving it the way she had lived it.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Michael J. Carmagnola, Jr. and his wife, Pam, of Austin, Tx. and Steven T. Carmagnola of Amherst, Va.; and two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Carmagnola and Chris Carmagnola; her brother, Andrew Gawlik of Falls Church, Va.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

She will be interred with her husband at Bushnell National Cemetery in Bushnell, Flo. at a later date.
