Barbara Jean Marsh

Barbara Jean Thacker Marsh, 73, of Evington, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Friday, September 23, 2011 while surrounded by family and friends at Lynchburg General Hospital. She is the daughter of the late Mandred Conway Thacker and Evelyn Thompson Thacker.

She was born, February 23, 1938 in Nelson County. Barbara was the person that never met a stranger. She worked at Jackson\"™s Drug, Pearson\"™s Drug and went on to work at Walmart, Some would say she had the \"gift of gab\". She loved to be with her family, friends and animals. She was a member of Mead Memorial United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her sister, Vivian T. Lyons (Jack) of Monroe; a nephew, Wilson C. Lyons (Cheri) of Williamsburg; two great nephews, Brandon and Taylor Lyons, both of Williamsburg, and numerous close friends. The family would like to extend their thanks to her neighbors and care taker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde C. \"Buddy\" Marsh and a sister, Rusty Hopkins.

There will be a funeral service conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 27, 2011 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, with the Rev. George Hatmaker officiating. Interment will follow in Mead Cemetery, Old Wright Shop Rd., Madison Heights, Va., 24572. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mead Memorial United Methodist Church, the Care and Share Group, 13317 Wards Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24501.
