Barbara Jean Phelan
Barbara Jean Phelan, 70, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Michael Phelan for 20 years.
Born October 3, 1942 in New York, she is the daughter of the late Leonard Valge and the late Rose Schwartz Valge. Barbara was in Customer Relations with New Jersey Bell Telephone Company and attended St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son: James Vincent Costanza and his wife Gloria Carpenter of Verona, New Jersey; a daughter: Angela Rose Stejakoski of Hackettstown, New Jersey; a step-daughter: Debbie Phelan-Hoffman and her husband Brian of Princeton, New Jersey; four grandchildren: Eric Hoffman and Matthew Hoffman of Princeton, New Jersey; Allyson Stejakoski and Dyllon Stejakoski of Hackettstown, New Jersey; a brother; Leonard Valge and his wife Elizabeth of Fredericksburg, VA, a brother-in-law: Richard Phelan of Huston, TX; a sister-in-law: Susan Teigan of Hanover, NJ.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 9:30 am. on Thursday, October 3, 2013 in St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Rev. MSGR Michael D. McCarron officiating. Burial will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.
The family will receive family and friends from 12:00 Noon to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
Memorial contributions may be made to, Cancer Care Fund Centra Foundation, 1920 Atherholt Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
