Barbara Jean Rojas

October 25, 1949 — January 10, 2025

Barbara Jean Rojas, 75, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully at her home Friday, January 10, 2025. She was the loving wife of Frank Jose Rojas and mom to “Cooper”, their beloved Plott Hound.

Barbara was born in Glen Gardner, New Jersey on October 25, 1949, the daughter of the late George Maxwell and Jean Cronce Maxwell. She retired as a professional medical assistant, and enjoyed road trips, cruises, spending time with her family and sewing all manner of clothes and other items.

She became a gourmet cook in retirement and took great joy in trying new recipes and perfecting old ones. She loved to cook for her family, spoiling them with their favorites whenever they could be together. Barbara especially enjoyed spending time in her garden, yard and greenhouse, where she could be found most days. Many of her recipes were created with herbs and vegetables she grew herself. Her favorite sport was Formula 1 racing; a high point for her was attending a race in Monaco.

Barbara was a kind and generous person, always willing to lend a hand. She spent most of her life in the service of others, helping those who were facing the worst days of their lives with kindness and dignity. She had a quick wit and a contagious sense of humor; some of her family’s fondest memories are of those times spent around the kitchen table, playing cards and recounting the old days and shenanigans. She will be so sorely missed.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Timothy Andrews of Austin, Texas, daughter Stephanie Andrews of Sequim, Washington and two grandchildren, Ethan and Hunter Rutherford of Monroe, Washington.

The family will hold a private memorial for Barbara at a later date.
