Barbara Lee Hatter Templeton, 88, of Lynchburg died Friday, February 10, 2017. She was the widow of Russell Ashby Templeton.
Barbara was born August 4, 1928 a daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Hatter and Elsie Mansfield Hatter. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her sister, Nancy H. Poff.
In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Barbara was the retired Secretary and Treasurer of R. Ashby Templeton Inc. She was a long time member of Boonsboro United Methodist Church, she then became a member of North Bedford Baptist Church where she continued to serve her Lord.
Barbara is survived by her children: Gary W. and Donna D. Templeton of Forest, Michael A. and Diane L. Templeton of Amherst, Darrell T. and Lori A. Templeton of Lynchburg, and Sharon T. and C. Barry Hall of Forest; grandchildren: Jennifer T. Civis (Jim), Neil A. Templeton, Tara Young, Olivia T. Cash (Lewis), Jeremiah Templeton (Tiffanee), Jamie Hall, Rachel H.Karnes(Johnathan) Lexi T. Stinnette (Chris), Levi Templeton and Matthew Moser; Great Grandchildren: LeAnne Wheeler and Emmersyn Templeton, her sister-in-law, Ruby Templeton Novak, a devoted friend and neighbor, Marsha Gwin.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Amy Beth Coleman officiating and Carl Saunders assisting. Interment with follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
