Barbara Shaughnessy

Barbara Noel Pollard Shaughnessy, 81, of Lynchburg, breathed her last near midnight on December 27, 2017.
She is survived by her husband Charles J. Shaughnessy, III; two children, Charles Noel Shaughnessy and his wife, Sonya Wasserman Shaughnessy and Rebecca Noel Shaughnessy Cole and her husband, Jim; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Philip Shaughnessy and his wife, Steffi, and daughter Joanna Rose Shaughnessy, Andrew Shaughnessy and his wife, Varina, Lindsay Shaughnessy, Matthew Shaughnessy and his wife, Kelsey, Ellie Shaughnessy Schwer and her husband, Brandon; John Clubb, and Rebecca Clubb; and sister Judy Pollard Hawthorne and husband, Walter.
She grew up in Richmond, Va., and after graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School she attended James Madison University where she was a member of Pi Kappa Sigma Sorority. After raising her two children, she was an associate broker for Rose and Womble Realty in Virginia Beach for 32 years and was chosen 1990 Realtor of the Year by the Tidewater Association of Realtors. She subsequently retired to Williamsburg, Va.
She was most recently a resident of Westminster Canterbury in Lynchburg, Va., and a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She was singing hymns and quoting scripture until the very end – her faith in Jesus persevered through much.
A memorial service for Barbara will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Westminster Canterbury Lynchburg with a reception to follow.
