Barbara Martin Turille, 80, of Lynchburg, Virginia passed peacefully on July 5, 2024. She was the devoted wife of Stuart J. Turille for 48 years, and a loving, devoted mother to her daughter, Angela May and loving grandmother to Alanna Scheuermann.
She was born in Amherst, Va. on July 13, 1943, to her beloved parents Melvin Connie Martin and Pattie Floyd Martin. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stuart J. Turille, sister Hilda Bobbit, brother Melvin J. Martin, and sister Virginia Bryant.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Angela May (Ryan), granddaughter Alanna Scheuermann, sister Ozelia (Zee) Hamilton (Les), stepsons Stuart Turille, Jr. (Shari), Terry Turille, and Randy Turille (Lisa), and granddaughters Cymbeline and Elleri, and numerous nieces and nephews.
After high school Barbara worked for Sweetbriar College in the administration offices. She then married and moved to Washington D.C. where she ran the office of Barnes, Morris & Pardoe, a prestigious real estate firm for 11 years. She eventually returned to Virginia and got re married to her “sweetie”, Stuart. In Lynchburg, she ran Temporary Help Services, Manpower and Norell before owning and operating her own successful business, The Perfect Fit, a Temporary Help Job Service. Barbara helped many people in the community find work and get permanent jobs. She had wonderful relationships with the businesses and clients in Lynchburg and was very loved by her employees. She then worked for years at American Greetings in her later years and earned many awards for her hard work ethic and performance with the company.
Barbara was known for her kind and giving heart, her passion, her wit and unique sense of humor, her bubbly personality, and love of life. A country girl at heart, she deeply loved nature, animals and her family. She loved to have fun and enjoyed many good times out at the family farm, her favorite place to be.
She was loved so dearly and will be so greatly missed.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date on the family farm.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Humane Society.
