Barbara Wieringo Murphy
Barbara Wieringo Murphy, 63, of Madison Heights, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010. She was the wife of Horace Kirkpatrick \"Kirk\" Murphy, Jr.
Mrs. Murphy was born Tuesday, January 14, 1947 in Lynchburg, a daughter of Lillian Louise Wieringo Higginbotham of Lynchburg and the late Edward Howard Wieringo. She was employed by Wal-Mart as a grocery assistant. She was a member of Madison Heights Christian Church.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her step-father, James Robert Higginbotham of Lynchburg; her daughters, Heather McCormick and husband, Drew, of Lynchburg, and their children, Andrew and Cooper McCormick; and Erin Murphy of Suffolk; close family friend, Rebecca DeWoody, of Suffolk, her brother, Edward H. Wieringo, Jr. and wife, Brenda, of Lynchburg, and her sisters, Patricia Milum of Arkansas and Teresa Humphries and husband, Leroy, of Madison Heights.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Madison Heights Christian Church, 149 Main Street, Madison Heights, with the Rev. George Harris officiating.
