Beatrice Rice

Beatrice Williams Rice, 86, of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away on Thursday September 5th, 2024 at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Beatrice was born on August 19th, 1938, in Charlotte County Virginia, to the late Harry R. Williams and Helen T. Williams.

 In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by Sisters Doris W. Locke and Mary W. Elder

Beatrice was a vibrant soul who brought joy to all those around her. Known for her infectious laughter and love of life, she loved to dance and was always seeking out opportunities to have a good time. Beatrice was a generous and giving person who never met a stranger. She retired from The Central Virginia Training Center after 30 plus years of service. While battling multiple sclerosis, Beatrice maintained her spirit and grace. Her family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Liberty Ridge Rehabilitation for their compassionate care. 

She is survived by her Children: Wes Rice and his wife Rhonda of Smith Mountain Lake; Wanda Vaughan and her husband Jeff of Lynchburg. Steve (Jake) Rice of Lynchburg, 4 grandchildren: 10 great grandchildren, her siblings: Shirley Speck of Madison Heights and June Haley of Chester Va; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Beatrice’s memory. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
