Belle Daulton English, 85, of Bedford passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the Elks National Home. She was born in Cumberland County on October 24, 1925, daughter of the late William Lynwood and Mary Brandau Daulton. She was the devoted wife of Thomas Ford English, Sr.
Belle was a member of Bedford Baptist Church and Elks Lodge #2844. She was a retired teacher with Bedford County Public School system, having taught the last 16 years at Liberty High School. She held a Bachelor of Arts from Lynchburg College and a Master of Arts from Virginia Tech. Belle was known for her love of golf, needlework, and bridge.
She is survived by her son, Thomas F. English, Jr. and wife Karen of Richmond, and three special friends; Cathryn Musgrove, Helen Tankersly, and Eileen Miller. She was preceded in death by her three brothers; Andrew Noel Daulton, Alvin Terry Daulton, and Travis Weldon Daulton.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, January 28, 2011 in Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. David L. Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM, Friday, January 28, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home.
