Benjamin “Ben” Doyle McDowell, 30, of Forest, VA, died on August 26, 2016.
Born on May 10, 1986 in Roanoke, VA, he is the beloved son of Tim McDowell and the late Millie McDowell.
Grieving and remembering him in the days that follow are: sister Taylor Scott, her husband Steven, and their daughter Abigail; Aunt Jamye Wright, her husband Jeff, and their children Jill and Jimmie; Aunt Kelly Ward and her husband Steve, and their children Beth and Meg; and girlfriend Randi Hutchinson and their dog Penny.
We remember Ben with gratitude as a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom in the US Navy and serving on USS New York, LPD 21. Ben is forever remembered by his family, friends and loved ones as the fiercest of friend and fool – a teller of captivating tales, the most loyal companion and confidant, and an instigator of laughter with a smile that could light up a room.
We gather to celebrate Ben’s life at a service of witness to the resurrection at 10AM Monday, August 29, 2016 at Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church. Come in your bowties and sundresses to remember Ben in the fondest of fashion.
