Benjamin Jackson Reeves

December 2, 1922 — April 6, 2015

Benjamin Jackson Reeves, 92 of Lynchburg, Virginia went home to be with his Lord on April 6, 2015 at Lynchburg Health and Rehabilitation Services.

Born on December 2, 1922 in Tallahassee FL. He was a son of the late George Columbus Reeves and Ida Jane Gay Reeves.

Ben served his Country in the Army as a Tech Sergeant in WWII, where he was wounded in France. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a retired accountant for Craddock Terry Shoe Corporation. He was a long time member of Euclid Christian Church, and a member of the American Legion. Ben was an avid outdoorsman and he loved to hunt and fish.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jean Woodfin Reeves; one daughter, Deborah Jean Reeves; two sisters, and three brothers.

He is survived by a son, George T. Reeves and wife Lilly; a grandson, Nathan T. Reeves; a granddaughter, Jenny E. Reeves; a great-grandson, Thomas Allen; and an extensive extended family that loved Granddaddy Ben.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Fort Hill Memorial Park, with Rev. Dr. Dennis Hollandsworth officiating. Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 16.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society: 1211 Old Graves Mill Rd, Lynchburg, VA 24502 and to the Debi Reeves Memorial Scholarship at Liberty High School: 100 Liberty Minutemen Dr, Bedford, VA 24523.

The family would like to express our gratitude to the staff at Lynchburg Health and Rehabilitation Services for their loving and compassionate care.
