Benton Clements Wiles

Benton Clements Wiles, 87, went to his eternal home in Heaven Friday, June 14, 2013. He was a resident of Runk & Pratt Assisted Living Facility, where he was being treated for Dementia and other health issues.

He was the son of William Robert Wiles and Fannie Lelia Clements Wiles of Sutherlin, Virginia.

Benton was a graduate of Dan River High School and Phillips Business College. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired employee of Nationwide Insurance Company.

Benton was a Christian and a faithful member of Park View United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years.

Benton was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Hubert Wiles, Walter Tom Wiles, and Melvin Wiles, and a sister, Rubye Wiles Hodges.

Benton is survived by his wife Geraldine McNeil Wiles (to whom he would have been married to 65 years on July 3), a son, Maurice Wiles, a daughter, Marlene Wiles Milstead and her husband, Rawley.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A celebration of Benton\"™s life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013 in the Chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, with the Rev. Phil Showers officiating. Internment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park with military honors provided by American Legion Post 16.
