Bernard Clyde “Bunny” Key, 93, of Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at his residence. He was born and raised in Bedford, VA. Bunny was one of sixteen children from Willie Austin Key and Callie Croft Key. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 73 years, Ruby Dooley Key; six brothers, John, Willie Jr., Thomas, James, Clark and Robert; seven sisters, Mildred, Merle, May, Helen, Nadine, Mary Nell and Pat.
Bunny was very simple but humble man. He loved the outdoors and spending time on his farm. One of his greatest passions was spent coon hunting. He married the love of his life Mrs. Ruby Dooley Key and made many wonderful memories while raising their four children. Bunny never met a stranger he was loved dearly by his family and friends but knowing he has reunited with his loved ones who have passed on gives them peace.
Left to cherish his memory are his four children, Dallas Key and his wife, Donna, Dale Key and his wife, Victoria, Terry Key and His wife, Randi and Teresa Key Lipscomb and her husband, Wayne; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; two siblings, Bobo Key and his wife, Gloria and Judy Key Dickerson. Also, two gentleman who he thought of as his own, Troy Key and Doug Karnes.

A graveside service and celebration of Bunny’s life will be conducted at 2:00pm on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Suck Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Dobey Toms officiating.
