Bernardine Ursula Doberstein Lewis, 90, of Moneta, went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 18, 2015. She was the loving wife of the late Richard “Dick” Lewis.
Bernie was born March 5, 1925 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Stanley and Martha Doberstein. In addition to her husband, Dick, and her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lorraine Brockly; her grandson, Jeffrey Michael.
She saved the lives of many working as a paramedic for Jefferson Hospital. She was a dedicated and founding member of Resurrection Catholic Church.
She is survived by five children, Linda Egbert and husband, John, Cindy Laquinta and husband, Ken, Sue Caruso and husband, Tom, Carol Hanchak and fiancé, Noel, Bill and wife, Trish; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; cousin, Joan Jennette and husband, Jim; two nieces, Betty Blue and husband, George, and Bobbi Ross.

A funeral service and celebration of Bernie’s life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Resurrection Catholic Church with Deacon Chris Barrett officiating. An inurnment in the columbarium niche will follow the service. Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford is assisting the family.
