Bernice Rucker Pearson, 80, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2014, at her home with her devoted son by her side.
Bernice was born May 5, 1934, in Lynchburg; she was a daughter of the late Houston M. Rucker and Eva May Pillow Rucker.
She is survived by her son, Rick Pearson; her sisters: Irene Rucker Russell (Donald) and Nellie Rucker Schmincke (Randall); and numerous other beloved family members.
In addition to her parents, Bernice was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Richard Clay Pearson, Sr.; her sister, Lois Rucker Bagby; and her brother, Howard Murrell Rucker.
She was a member of Memorial Christian Church and she worked 43 years for the Chap Stick Company. Bernice enjoyed cooking, sewing, roller skating and travelling. Some of her favorite memories involved the cruises she took with her son on the Queen Mary 2.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 2, 2014, in the Chapel of Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, with Reverend Virgil Knipp officiating.
