Bertram Douglas Everett, affectionately known as “Lover,” peacefully entered into eternal rest at Lynchburg General Hospital on Tuesday December 12, 2023, after a brief illness. He was born October 13, 1954 in Lynchburg, VA to Pauline Irvine Everett and the late William Riley Everett Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 41 years, Angela Day Everett, two sons; Errick Christian of Madison Heights, VA and Jordan Everett of Lynchburg, VA and one grandson Jionni Everett, whom he cherished. He is also survived by two brothers; William Riley Everett Jr. (Norma) and Michael Irvine Everett, one sister; Diana Everett Burford, four aunts; Jeannette Callands, Laura Williams (Robert), Jean Irvine and Patricia Everett Jordan, three uncles; Clarence Irvine, Gene Everett and Jerry Everett (Shirley), two brothers-in-law; Robert Day Jr. (Ruth), Barry Day (Tina), one sister-in-law; Andrea Stevens and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.
Lover completed his education at E.C. Glass High School in 1973. He was employed for 20 years at Grand Piano Company and retired from Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church.
Fondly known as the Mayor of Rivermont Avenue, Lover was an avid Washington Redskins fan who enjoyed music and was a founding member of Lynchburg’s own “Dynatones.” Making others happy, particularly during the holidays, was a delight for him; decorating their home at the intersection of Rivermont & Bedford Avenue for all to enjoy. He loved people and their home was known to family and friends as the hub for entertainment. He will be missed by all who were touched by him.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
