Beth Hellman, 70, of Lynchburg, Va., died on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. She was the wife of Sanford Hellman. Beth was born on May 5, 1945 in Lincoln, Nebraska, a daughter of the late Dr. Avery and Gertrude Zuckerman. She is survived by three younger brothers, Phillip, Murray and Matthew Zuckerman.
Beth attended New London High School and Eastern Connecticut State College. She was certified and initially worked as a seventh grade English teacher. In 1966, she married Sanford Hellman and together they raised two children, Jeremy and Andy, after moving to Lynchburg in 1968. They had six grandchildren, Libby, Whitney, Arianna, Nate, Teigan and Liam. They also raised numerous Labrador Retrievers, both as owners and breeders. Altogether, Beth and Sandy raised twenty litters. She was an active member and seller at the Lynchburg Community Market for close to forty years where her baked goods were enjoyed by many.
A memorial service will be held at the Agudath Sholom Synagogue on February 21, 2016 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Beth’s name to the Lynchburg Humane Society.
