Betty Harrison Hawkins

Betty Ann Harrison Hawkins, 57, of Thaxton, died Friday, June 25, 2010 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born in Botetourt, Virginia on August 25, 1952, a daughter of the late Paul O. Harrison and Viola L. Wright. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Hull and a sister, Mickie Lee. She loved fishing, playing pool, gardening, and spending time with family.

Betty is survived by her husband, Donald Edward Hawkins, 6 children, Sharon Gusler and husband, James, Donna Warden and friend, Mike, David Gusler and wife, Thyrsa, James Mayes and wife, Heidi, Donnie Hawkins and friend Janice and Cristy Hawkins; 3 sisters, Barbara Morris and husband, Roger, JoAnn Dunbar and friend, Jerry, Vickie Wyner and friend, Carie; 3 brothers, Eugene Harrison and wife, Millie, James Harrison and wife, Jackie and John Harrison; 8 grandchildren, James Heath, Jr., Paul Heath, Dustin Gusler, Katie Gusler, Tyler Hawkins, Seth Hawkins, Maddie Hambrick and Hayden Harris; numerous nieces and nephews; 3 special pets, Pee-Wee, Skippy and Cracker.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Bedford Christian Ministries, 217 West Washington Street, Bedford, VA 24523.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Dr. Edridge V. Cullum, Rev. Todd Childers and Rev. Bill Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00pm on Monday, June 28, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford.  Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, 540-586-3443.
