Betty Jean Light White, 86, of Bedford, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, February 1, 2019. Betty was an incredible wife, mom, grandmother and lady. For those that knew her, Betty left an everlasting impression. She has always put others before herself and would do anything she could to help anyone in need. Any of her family knew, if they had a problem – Betty was there to listen and give the best advice. She was so full of wisdom! She will be greatly missed.
Betty was born in Roanoke, Va to the late Armor and Alice Light. She was the loving wife of the late Richard Woodson White for 59 years. She was the loving mother to her son, the late Richard Blair White, for 64 years. Betty was also pre-deceased by sister, Imelda Howell and brothers Eldridge, Arvin, Forest and Mitchell Light.
Left to cherish many happy memories of our wonderful mom/grandma are son, Roger (Tara) White of Troutville, VA; Grandchildren, Jodi (Wystan) Crismond, Jaret (Alexis) White, Richard Blair White, Cherie Paul, Kristy White; great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Emerson Crismond, Brandon and Lauren Arthur, Thomas and Jason White, Alexis Blair White and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was such a hard worker. While being such a loving wife, mom and grandma, Betty was also a career woman. Through the years, she has held many professional positions at various companies. For the last 47 years, Betty has been the treasurer and controller of Bedford Weaving, Inc. A position she actively held until she was hospitalized less than 3 weeks ago. Betty took great pride in her work and loved being with her 2nd family at Bedford Weaving. She had a great respect and love for the Garbarini Family.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM, Monday, February 4, 2019 at Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford, Va. A celebration of Betty’s life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 in the chapel at Tharp Funeral Home, by the Rev. Dr James Jason Cook.
