Betty Jo Sammons Dooley, age 80, of Bedford, Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024. Born on November 1, 1943, in Road Fork, Kentucky to the late James Gordon Sammons, Jr. and Lucille Taylor Sammons.
Betty was known for her strong will and sharp wit. She was an avid card player, who enjoyed games with family and friends. Additionally, she took pride in her home and enjoyed cleaning. Betty will be remembered not only for her strong personality but also for the compassion and love she shared throughout her life. Betty lived a life rich with faith, resilience, and joy. She touched the hearts of many and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Betty is survived by her two beloved daughters, Tina Lawson and her husband, John, and Terri Johnston and her husband, Patrick. She was a cherished grandmother to her grandson, Dustin Dooley and his wife, Samantha, and granddaughter, Maddi Johnston. Her legacy continues through five great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. Betty also leaves behind her loving siblings: Nean Parr, Nancy Doutz and her husband, Denny, Tammie Vitt and her husband, Mike, and Dan Sammons and his wife, Vickie.
A celebration of life will be held at Patrick and Terri Johnston's home on Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m.
