Betty L. Kidd

Betty L. Kidd, 88, of Lynchburg, died on Monday, June 28, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Russell H. Kidd, Jr.

Born in Amherst County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Emory Woodson Layne and Irene Barbour Layne. Betty diligently worked for 48 years in personnel at the same location for Chap Stick which went through many name changes during her time there.

As a devout Christian, Betty was a member of Gospel Community Church Rivermont formerly known as Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church. Later in life she also enjoyed attending Clifford Baptist Church with her sisters.

She is survived by her son, Vincent R. Kidd and his wife Adele; daughter, Gail K. Clingenpeel and her husband Gary; grandchildren, Christy Caruso, Alexander Kidd, and Isabel Kidd; great-grandchildren, Kara Caruso and Gabriella Caruso.

Betty is also survived by siblings Lois Hubbard, Pat Nash, Johnny Layne and Doug Layne, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by son, Rex Anthony Kidd as well as siblings Warren Layne, Ethel Layne, Preston Layne, Clara Rothenberger, William Layne and Aubrey Layne.

Betty loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all.

A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Reverend Dr. Michael Fitzgerald.
