Betty Knight Wagner, 70, of Goode, passed away Monday, October 17, 2011, quietly at her home surrounded by her family. She was born July 1, 1941 in Staunton, VA.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Archie Phillips Knight and her father Oren Knight of Staunton, and brothers Jimmy Knight of Covington and Charles Knight of Phoenix, Arizona.
In addition to her loving husband of 51 years, Ernest \"Dan\" Wagner, she is survived by her sisters and brothers: Velma Moyers of Staunton, Shirley Hagy of Churchville, Buck Knight of Verona, J.T. Knight of Stuarts Draft, and Lucky Knight of Staunton. She leaves a daughter, Sandra Wagner Conner and husband Jay, of Lynchburg, and two sons, Alan Dale Wagner and wife Jill of Lynchburg, and Ernest Keith Wagner and wife Anne of Forest, as well as 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
She was a long time member of Brookhill United Wesleyan Church and the Goode Rescue Squad Auxiliary. She was a wonderful cook. Over the years she had amassed an impressive collection of angels, may they watch over her now.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M., October 18, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, and at other times at the residence. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, with Pastor Joe Horrell officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park, Forest, and a reception will be held at Brookhill Wesleyan Church, Goode, immediately after.
