Betty Meriwether Mills
Betty Meade Meriwether Mills went to be with her loving husband, the late Clarence Montgomery Mills, Jr. on March 22, 2013 after a long and joyful life.
Born in Lynchburg, on May 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Hamilton Otey Meriwether, Sr. and Louise Withers Fisher Meriwether.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Hamilton Otey Meriwether, Jr. and her sister Margaret Douglas Meriwether Gay.
She is survived by her four children, Ann Douglas Skelton (John) of Tulsa, OK, Margaret Meriwether \"Peggy\" Haw (Thomas) of Richmond, Clarence Montgomery \"Monty\" Mills, III of Leasburg, NC and Louise Withers Mills of Lynchburg; seven grandchildren, Elisabeth Edwards Mead (Scott) of Baltimore, MD, Katherine Meriwether Edwards , John Douglas Edwards,
of Charleston, S.C., Dabney Meriwether Haw, Thomas Ruffin Haw, Jr. of Richmond, Clarence Montgomery \"Clay\" Mills IV and Douglas Matheson Mills of Greensboro, NC.
Betty was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School, class of 1947 and Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia in 1951. She taught high school biology for several years in Newport News and Lynchburg. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Betty lived life to the fullest and was devoted to her family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 25, 2013, at 1:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church. Following a private burial, the family will receive friends at Trinity Episcopal Church.
