Beverly Ann Mays, 50, of Evington, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2016. She was the loving wife of Jimmie Lee Mays.
Born on August 21, 1965, Beverly was an administrator with J. Crew. Her life-long passion was helping animals, so she worked at a wildlife habitat that rehabilitates animals for release back into the wild. Beverly was an excellent cook, and loved to help and take care of others. She never met a stranger, was a friend to everyone, and made everyone feel like they were part of her family.
Beverly was preceded in death by her step-father, Sherman Dalton, Sr.
In addition to her husband, Beverly leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Shay W. Ward, Taylor Lee Ward (Jordan Farmer), Kayla Lee Mays, Cathy Harris, Angie Harvey, Brooke Hines, and Weston Harris,; her mother, Doris Ware Dalton; her father, William G. Oakes (Cheryl); her grandchildren, Gavin Heath Farmer and David Pace Ward; her siblings, Brian K. Oakes, Debbie Zatrepalek, Sherman Dalton, Jr., Kim Evans, Donna Lane, Kelly Dalton, Sarah Andrews, Millie Marlatt, and Megan Fields; her mother-in-law, Gerda L. Mays; her sister-in-law, Tammy L. Mays; her brother-in-law, Pete Mays; and her former spouses, David Lee Ward and Allen Lee Harris.
The family will receive friends at Living Word Baptist Church this afternoon, Sunday, March 13, 2016, from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. A Celebration of Beverly’s Life will be held at 11:00 Monday, March 14, 2016, at Living Word Baptist Church, with Pastor Marvin Suitt officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
