Beverly Wilson Shuey

Bev was born in Michigan Valley, KS, the only child of Perry Coe Wilson and Faye Johnson Wilson, on May 29, 1925. She entered into peaceful rest on October 30, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband Glenn Shuey, daughter Linda Porter, and son Michael Overmeyer.

She is survived by one son; Scott Overmeyer, two step-daughters; Marcia Fisher and Dianne Seguin, and their families that include many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also left to cherish her memory are Jan and Walter Acha of Woodland Hills, CA, and Elaine and Fred Steltenpohl of Racine, WI; dear friends Lea Cannon of Murphy, NC and Liz and Gary McDeavitt of Union Hall, VA.

Bev retired from United Technologies in West Palm Beach, FL and spent most of her retirement years in Murphy, NC. She was a member of The Fraternal Order of the Moose, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, and The American Legion.

Bev resided for the last two years at Franklin Health Care Center in Rocky Mount, VA where she enjoyed wonderful care over the term of a long illness. Bev always had a sunny outlook and enjoyed being a friend to everyone she met.

She was a member of Redwood United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held there on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Interment will be in North Carolina. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, SML, 540-721-9375.
