Billie Burke Lowe

Billie Burke Lowe, 82, of Bedford, formerly of Concord, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Bedford Memorial Hospital.  He was the loving husband of 62 years to Helen Louise Griffith Lowe.

 

Born in Tazewell County on August 14, 1935 he was the son of the late George Washington Lowe and Ida Ellen Bailey Lowe. He is also preceded in death by his sisters: Bessie, Helen, Marguerite, Lona, Viola, Norma, Alice, Eula, Audrey, Martha, Georgia; and son-in-law: Michael Medley.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters : Deborah (Robert) Mayberry, Betty Medley, Peggy (Bernie) Martin, Roxanna Lowe; sons: Billy Lowe, Jr and fiancée Karen Sipes, Tommy (Tanya) Lowe; grandchildren: Bryan (Lindsey) Fitz, Chris (Jennifer) Medley, Lonnie (Marie) Medley, Jackie (Chris) Burley, Sarah (Willie) Ayers, Rebecca (Jonathan) Mitchell, Maggie Martin, Chryssi (Chris) Thacker, Stephanie Austin, Thomas Matthew, Jr. (Katie) Lowe, Cheyenne Williams, Jacob Williams, Nate Lowe, Nick Lowe, Kasey Sipes; 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Billie loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed working on cars, mowing grass, watching westerns and listening to George Jones.

 

The family will receive friends at Tharp Funeral Home tonight, January 11, 2018 from

6:00-8:00 p.m.

 

Billie will have a visitation Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Tazewell from 12:00-2:00 followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
