Billie June Sublett 84, of Forest, VA, died Sunday, February 7, 2016. She was the wife of Harry C. Sublett, Jr. for sixty-two years.
Billie (known fondly as “BJ”) was born Wednesday, September 23, 1931 in Lynchburg, Va., a daughter of the late Robert Edward Carter and Mary Mcguire May. She was retired from Caskie Paper Co. where she was a bookkeeper. She was a member of Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the United States Tennis Association where she played the sport she loved.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Kelly Vanaman and husband Steve, of Forest, Va. and Tracy Begue of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandchildren, Lindsey Begue, of N.Y., Michael Vanaman, of Harrisonburg, Va., Lauren Begue, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Chris Vanaman, of Forest, Va.; two sisters, Margaret Carter Falwell, Angela Carter Moore and her husband, Tim, all of Forest Va.; four brothers, David Carter and wife Janie, Ron Carter, and wife Kathy all of Texas, Jerry Carter and wife, Carolyn of Delaware, Tim Carter and wife Cindy of Lynchburg, Va.; sister-in-law, Mary Sublett, of Harrisonburg, Va. and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ineta Carter Bradley and brothers-in-law, Kimsey Bradley and Sherwood Sublett.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A celebration of Billie’s life will be conducted immediately after the visitation at Tharp Funeral Home with Pastor Bart Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery. A reception will be held after interment in the club house at Jefferson Villas on Thomas Jefferson Road (Route 811).
