Billy J. Hodges

Billy James Hodges of 137 Howard Drive, husband of Evelyn Webb Hodges, died on April 19, 2013 at Medical Care Center. He was born December 2, 1926 in Lynchburg, Va., the son of Eliza Stinnett Hodges and Samuel David Hodges.

 

Billy was educated in Lynchburg, Va. schools, graduating in the Class of 1944 from E.C. Glass High School. He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in the Philipine Islands during that time.

 

 

Surviving in addition to his wife is a niece, Connie McFaden, one nephew, David Edward McFaden and his wife Deborah, all of Lynchburg

 

Preceding Billy in death were his parents, sister, Katherine McFaden, and a niece, Pamela McFaden, of Lynchburg.

 

 

Billy retired in 1998 from Lynchburg Ready Mix Concrete Co. where he was president and part owner of the company. He was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lynchburg and until recently an active member of Elks Lodge 321 where he had many friends.

 

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Sunday, April 28, 2013 with the Reverend Dennis Roberts conducting the service. Inurnment will take place in the Holy Trinity Lutheran columbarium immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 Langhorne Road, Lynchburg, Va. Endowment Fund.
