Blanche Culbertson Acree, 105 years, passed away on December 3, 2024. She was a resident of Smith Mountain Lake, VA since 2015, having lived for many years previously in both Greensboro, NC and Birmingham, AL. A native of Woodruff, SC, she was the daughter of James and Zillie Culbertson and a 1940 graduate of Furman University.
Blanche was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also a dedicated church kindergarten teacher for many years. Most of all, she was a gracious lady with a gentle and caring spirit and a close friend to many throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pendleton Johnston Acree and her only son, John Pendleton Acree. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Page Robertson (Jerry) of Birmingham, Al, Christine Dideon of Smith Mountain Lake, VA, Ann Roberson (Henry) of San Antonio, TX and Amy Langford (Tom) of Poughkeepsie, NY. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Trinity Ecumenical Parish, Moneta, VA, followed by burial at Bethel Cemetery in Woodruff, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the mission and ministry of Trinity Ecumenical Parish (40 Lakemount Drive, Moneta, VA 24121.)
