Bonny Lou Wuttke, 89, of Lynchburg, died on Thursday, January 24, 2019, with her family by her side. She was the wife of Karl Richard Wuttke for 67 years. She was devoted to her family and friends; she will be deeply missed.
Bonny was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on July 21, 1929, a daughter of the late Glenn Musser and the late Roby Emily Brown Musser. Her mother died suddenly when she was just six months old, and was then raised and preceded in death by her Grandmother; Carrie Hess Brown Pangborn.
She graduated from Concordia High School, located in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, in 1948. She worked various jobs including filing clerk, billing clerk, typist, and retail sales. She and Karl meet on a blind date and later were married in April of 1951. She and Karl relocated the family to Lynchburg, VA in 1967 when Karl began working for First Colony Life Insurance Company. In 1982 The News and Daily Advance awarded her the title of Adult Carrier of the Year. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and retired after more than 25 years with The Education & Research Foundation, Inc. Some of Bonny’s happiest times included traveling with her husband Karl and her family.
Bonny was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Karl Richard Wuttke and a daughter Suzanne Wuttke Olson.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Wuttke; a son, Tim Wuttke and his wife, Stephanie Martin Wuttke; son-in-law, Keith Olson; grandchildren, Kasey Martin Wuttke, Tara Wuttke, Jill Elizabeth Olson Peters and husband Paul, Troy Allen Olson and wife Laura.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Cecilia M. MacCallum, Dr. Shawn Hayes, the doctors and staff at Centra Hospice, and to the staff at Generation Solutions for their compassionate care and support during Bonny’s illness.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
A memorial service for Bonny will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Dennis S. Roberts officiating.
