Brad Rucker Rainey, 66, of Lynchburg passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 3, 2025.
Brad was born in Lynchburg on March 6, 1958, a son of the late David Millar Rainey and Ann Shoaf Rainey. Brad grew up as a member of Peakland Baptist Church and attended Virginia Tech. He was an avid sports fan, particularly with respect to football and tennis. He was always available to have lengthy (and I mean lengthy!) conversations on either subject, particularly Virginia Tech football. Whether he was overjoyed by a win, or disgusted by a loss, all those around him would hear his take (willingly or not) on the matter. He was retired from Hill City Packaging.
He is survived by his brothers, Robert S. Rainey of Lynchburg, Scott S. Rainey and his wife Dee of Lynchburg; and a sister Katherine (Kate) Collado and her husband Al of Chesapeake; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service and celebration of life for Brad will be announced at a later date.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Cindy Trujillo and Lois Cyrus for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers please consider giving to the Lynchburg Humane Society at www.lynchburhumane.org
