Brenda Gayle Campbell, 61, of Pamplin, Virginia, lost her battle with cancer on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the wife of Raymond Arnold Campbell for 23 years.
Born on Wednesday, September 16, 1953, in Lynchburg, Brenda was a daughter of the late Raymond Tyree and Inez Proffitt Tyree of Madison Heights.
In addition to her husband and mother, Brenda is survived by her children, Kenny Dewayne Thompson and his wife, Dana, of Madison Heights, Jerry “Porky” Yancey and his fiancé, Hollen of Madison Heights, and Sarah Ann Tomlin, of Pamplin; five grandchildren, Jerry, Jessica, and Charles Tomlin, Trafton and Emily Thompson; a great granddaughter, Alea Tomlin; two brothers, Donald and Tommy Tyree; four sisters, Diane Johnson, Debbie Chambliss, Vicky King, and Sharon Wheeler; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Brenda was a loving wife, an excellent mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Brenda was one of the strongest women we ever knew. “Her body gave up, but her spirit will live forever.”
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015, at Tharp Funeral Home, 118 Commonwealth Drive, Madison Heights. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
