Brian Adam Noakes, 53, died at his home in Bedford, Virginia on Sunday, April 24, 2016. Alison Douglas Noakes was his wife for 32 years, and his best friend and lover for 37 years.

Brian was born December 5, 1962 in Biloxi, Mississippi, a son of Ada Marie Lake and the late Douglas Winfrey Noakes. He worked as a truck driver for McKee Foods Corporation. Brian had a great passion for his family and the outdoors. Some of his favorite activities included hunting, fishing, and farming, especially alongside his family and friends.

In addition to his wife and mother, left to cherish Brian’s memory are his children,  SSgt USAF Kasey Adam Noakes (wife Kylie) Anchorage, Alaska, Kaleb Tyler Noakes Bedford, Va.; siblings, Valerie Noakes Coleman (husband Jimmy) Monroe, Va., Rhonda Noakes Thomas (husband Bruce) Culpepper, Va., Douglas Carroll Noakes (wife Teresa) Montvale, Va.; brother-in-law, Robert Scott Douglas (wife Charlene) Bedford, Va.; sister-in-law, Robin Douglas Adams (husband Darryl) Bedford, Va.; mother-in-law, Linda Landrum Douglas,Bedford, Va.; nieces and nephews, Kelly Marie Coleman, Steven James Coleman, Justin Dale Stanley, Savannah Lynn Thomas, Cody Lee Noakes (fiancée Shaye), Robert Shelton Douglas (fiancée Haley), Ashley Michelle Douglas, Garrison Lee Adams, Joel Douglas Adams, Anna Elizabeth Adams; great nephews, Brayden Miles Douglas and Conner L. Coleman.

Brian was predeceased by his father, Douglas Winfrey Noakes; his grandparents, Homer Franklin Lake and Madeline Josephine Lake; Carroll Noakes and Sybil Ideal Noakes; father-in-law, John Robert Douglas; special friend, mentor, and “co-conspirator” Allison B. Landrum (Papa.)

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford. Services will be held privately at a later date.
