Brinda Gilmore Wright

Brinda Gilmore Wright 73, of Glen Dale, MD, peacefully transitioned Monday, September 2, 2024, in Lynchburg, VA, surrounded by her children and her new son-in-law Lamont Smallwood. 

Brinda was born on May 22, 1951, to the late Janie Roach Gilmore and Odell Gilmore. 

Brinda spent her early years growing up in Lynchburg and Bedford schools before marrying the late Riley Wright and relocating to Maryland. She still remained a faithful member of Holcomb Rock Baptist church, her family church, and Lovely Zion Baptist Church, her husband's home church.

She was very active in the rearing of three children. She was a PTA mom and a mother to a lot of kids, not biologically hers. She became a friend, an auntie, and a mom to so many. She was beloved by so many.

Brinda is survived by her three children, LaMont (Renee'), Heath, and Yukari (Lamont); five grandchildren, Arria, RaSeph, Heath, Sia Li, and Aries; two great-grandchildren Aiya and Amahzi; and a host of friends, family, and loved ones who adored her.

 A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Holcomb Rock Baptist Church. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.

 Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
