Bruce E. Eckert, 57, of Forest passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017.
He was retired from BWXT with over 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his father, John P. “Jack” Eckert.
He is survived by his wife Dana Cocke Eckert; mother Constance Eckert; daughter Lindsay Eckert Klein and her husband, Matt of Forest, son John Brent Eckert of Fairfax, sisters Linda Furry and her husband, Joe of Pennsylvania and Laura McVay of Lynchburg, grandson Xander Klein of Forest, stepsons Christopher Cocke and his wife Sarah, Jason Cocke and his wife Amanda, all of Forest, step-grandsons Colton Cocke and Travis Cocke; step-granddaughter Cameron Cocke.
A public visitation will be held from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, Va 24502.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to give special thanks to Drs. Kevin Patel, Michael O’Neill and the nurses and radiation techs at Lynchburg Hematology and Oncology and The Summit town square staff, especially nurses Tiffany, Jane and Kayla. Also special thanks to Nancy Downey with Generation Solutions for her tender care.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
