C. Ray Wells

C. Ray Wells, 79, of Moneta, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Pontiac, Michigan on July 26, 1930, a son of the late C. Ray Wells, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Ray Wells. Ray was a member of the United States Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, gardening and doing work around his yard. Ray and his wife are active members of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Moneta. He retired with over 35 years service with Roanoke County Public School\"™s.

 Ray is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Martha Gilly Wells; three children, Jonathan Ray Wells and his wife, Lisa Ellen of Wilmington, DE, Joseph Parsons Wells and his wife, Diane Byl of Goodview and Jennifer Wells Baker of Lynchburg; a special granddaughter, Janalyn; a sister, Gladys Ann Lane and her husband, Harry of Corbin, KY; and a cousin, Carol Bennett and her husband, Paul of Kingsport, TN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lake Christian Ministries, PO Box 695, Moneta, VA 24121.

A celebration of Ray\"™s life will be conducted at 11 AM, Friday, January 29, 2010 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Rev. David Lord officiating.
