Callie Dehart Whitt

Callie DeHart Whitt, 92, of Lynchburg, passed into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, November 28, 2010, in Lynchburg. She was born in Barren Springs, Patrick County, Virginia on July 15, 1918, a daughter of the late John Homer DeHart and Amanda Harrison DeHart. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Whitt, her sister, Peg VanHoy and three brothers, Harvey, James and Harry DeHart.

She and her husband resided in Radford for 43 years. Callie is survived by two daughters, Brenda Whitt Richardson and her husband, Bill of Lynchburg, Jean Whitt Driscoll and her husband, Dr. Charles of Lynchburg; three grandsons, Clay Richardson and his wife, Shannon of Forest, Mike Richardson and his wife, Michelle of Forest and Jason Richardson and his wife, Alison of Forest; three step-grandchildren, Laura Hoefs of Delafield, WI, Cathleen Merrill of Lehi, UT and Scott Driscoll of San Diego, CA; six great-grandchildren, Jake, Kate, Noah, Reese, Faith and Sara Harper Richardson; three sisters, Nancy Jones of Apoka, FL, Jessie Huddle of Richmond and Sue Gagnet of Salem; one brother, Mack DeHart of Salem.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday December 1, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Chapel, Bedford with the Rev. Daniel Wheeler and Chaplain Rick Poland officiating.Graveside Services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.The family will receive friends from one hour prior to the service at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, 540-586-3443.
