Carl Musgrave Coleman, 87, of Lynchburg died Sunday, January 17, 2016. He was the husband of the late Charlene Peery Coleman.
Carl was born February 4, 1928 in Bedford County, a son of the late Robert Lee Coleman and Dessie Martin Coleman. Carl honorably served his country and was retired from the U.S. Army, and served during World War II. He was a member of Cove Methodist Church in Coleman Falls.
He is survived by his six children: Vicki Coleman of Shreveport, LA; Teresa Jones of Yorktown, VA; Gloria Reaves of Coleman Falls; Belinda Coleman of Shreveport, LA; C. Wayne Coleman of Cabot, AR; and Jeff Coleman of Jacksonville, AR; four sisters: Mary Dawson and Helen Reynolds both of Lynchburg; Barbara Burks of Big Island; and Brenda Wiles of Coleman Falls; two brothers: Melvin Coleman of Jacksonville, AR; and Gene Coleman of Lynchburg, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Coleman, two brothers, Strother Coleman and David Coleman.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.
A graveside service for Carl will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Cove Methodist Church, in Coleman Falls with the Rev. J. Monty Fox officiating.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
