Carl Edwin Simpson

Carl Edwin (Collie) Simpson, 81, of Bedford, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Anna Laura McKinney Simpson. They were married for 55 years.
Born in Gretna, Virginia November 2, 1933, he was the son of the late Denver Lee Simpson and Lucy Eunice Dalton Simpson. Carl was a member of Thaxton Baptist Church.
Collie is also preceded in death by two brothers: Grady Ray Simpson, Coy Wayne Simpson; and his sister: Carolyn Yvonne Gay.
In addition to his wife, Collie is survived by his two daughters, Terri Ann Bussey and husband, James, and Tracy Ellen Saunders and husband, Richard; grandchildren, Jeremy Bock, Megan Rosenbloom, Alicia Saferight, Haley Bussey and Travis Bussey; his brothers-in-law: Dick, Don, and Doug McKinney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at Tharp Funeral Home, Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Randy C. Krantz and Rev. Mark W. Beck. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
