Carl Eugene Wooldridge

September 9, 1957 — November 2, 2022

Carl Eugene Wooldridge, 65, passed away Wednesday November 2, 2022 at The Summit, after being hospitalized since August 24th with acute cardiac issues as well as other chronic illnesses. Carl was the husband of Jeanne Garraghty Wooldridge for 47 years.

Carl was born September 9, 1957 in Lynchburg, VA to Caswell Thomas Wooldridge and Georgie Simmons Wooldridge. He was the youngest of their six children. He was a graduate of E.C. Glass and grew up off Old Forest Road. He was a talented machinist and humble leader. He worked for many years at Simplimatic as leadman, before working his later years as a supervisor at Automated Conveyor Systems. Carl was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with family and cherished his grandchildren who called him “Pawpaw”.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, April Wooldridge Mundy and husband Bryan of Savannah, GA., and Karla Wooldridge of Bedford, three grandchildren, Katelyn Mundy, Charlize Mundy, and Easton Wooldridge. He is also survived by five siblings, Robert Wooldridge of Forest, Kay Taylor and her husband Gary of Naola, Bruce Wooldridge at Virginia Veterans Care Center in Roanoke, Debbie Thompson and her husband Ben of Lynchburg, and Ruth Wooldridge of Elizabeth City, NC.

The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation Sunday November 6, 2022 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg, MASK REQUIRED. A graveside service will be held Monday November 7, 2022 at Virginia Memorial Park at 2 p.m.
