Carl Wilton “Pete” Hicks, 85, of Lynchburg, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017. He was born on December 14, 1931 in Moneta, VA. He was the son of the late Thomas Edwin Hicks and Ruth Nichols Hicks. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Harper and Myra Koch also one great-granddaughter Farrah Cook.
Pete was a member of Living Word Baptist Church in Lynchburg. He served his county in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. Pete love auctions and collecting antiques especially antique automobiles.
Pete is survived by his four children, Laura Bowers, Carla Weiss and her husband, Mike, Susan Renfro and Dan Hicks and his wife, Renae; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one sister, Sandra Lancaster and her husband, Buddy. He was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

A funeral service and celebration of life service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Chapel in Bedford with Pastor Marvin Suitt officiating. The burial will follow at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Moneta. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford.
