Carl Thomas Hurt, Jr

Carl Thomas Hurt, Jr., 82, of Moneta, died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at his residence. Born on April 12, 1928 in Roanoke, Virginia, a son of the late Carl Thomas Hurt, Sr. and Mary Sissy Long Hurt. In addition to his parents Carl was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Bradley Hurt and Barry Lee Hurt.

Carl was a member of Morgan\"™s Baptist Church in Moneta. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, and was also a founding member of Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla, 81.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Loran T. Hurt; a son, Byron B. Hurt and his girlfriend, Terri; a special daughter-in-law, Linda Hurt; three brothers, Bill Hurt and his wife, Edith, Kent Hurt and his wife, Helen and John Hurt and his wife, Kathy; a special nephew, Darden Hurt; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
