Carol Broyles Meadows, 89, of Moneta, VA passed away on March 20, 2024 in Roanoke, VA. Carol was born March 18, 1935 in Sinks Grove, WV to Holly Pembrook Broyles and Pearl Lockhart Broyles. Carol grew up on the Knobs in Union, WV with her many brothers and sisters. During these early years, Carol met the love of her life Robert Joseph Meadows. Carol would often say that once she laid eyes on her Robert there was no going back. Carol and Robert were married in 1951 and had their beloved daughter, Pamela Jo Meadows, soon thereafter. Over their lifespan, Bob and Carol lived in West Virginia, Kansas, Florida, Waynesboro and Roanoke, VA before retiring to Smith Mountain Lake where they lived for 40 years, fulfilling their dream. Carol and Bob were faithful members of Beaverdam Baptist Church in Stewartsville, VA. Carol retired from Wells Fargo Bank in Roanoke, VA. After retirement, Bob and Carol delivered meals for Meals on Wheels for 15 years in the Bedford County area. Carol was known for her devotion to family as there was little else in this world that she cherished more. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Robert Meadows, sister Margaret Broyles Ramey, brother Frank Broyles, brother Arnold “John” Broyles, brother Donald Broyles, and sister Wilda Broyles Crosier. She is survived by her daughter Pam Meadows Shifflett (Gary) of Moneta, VA, grandson Geoffrey Shifflett (Melanie) of Boiling Springs, PA, granddaughters Holly Hall (Brett) of Moneta, VA, and Courtney Nedimyer (Andrew) of Mechanicsburg, PA. Carol is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren Zachary, Connor, Carter, and Grace Shifflett of Boiling Springs, PA, Addison, Ella, and Reese Hall of Moneta, VA, and Levi, Noah, Isaac, and Ruth Nedimyer of Mechanicsburg, PA. A graveside service will be conducted at the Rollynsburg Talcott Cemetery #2 in Talcott, WV on March 30, 2024 at noon. Reception immediately following at Rollynsburg Baptist Church, Talcott, WV. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
