Carole Lee Heusinger, 69, of Gladys, passed away on February 6, 2017. She was born in Hoboken, N.J. to the late Charles F. Stednitz and Concetta Principe Stednitz. She is survived by her childhood sweetheart and devoted husband of 48 years, Jonathan D. Heusinger. Carole also leaves behind a daughter, Judy Hedrick, and son-in-law David Hedrick, in Rustburg, and son John Heusinger, in Austin, Texas.
After graduating from high school, she went to work as a secretary in the World Trade Center. Over the years her varied interests led her to become a registered nurse, real estate agent, domestic violence counselor, pre-school administrator, and also to study to be a florist and Master Gardener. After retiring in 2000, she and her husband moved from Point Pleasant, N.J., to Gladys. She attended Tree of Life Church, Lynchburg. Carole was a stickler for proper grammar and would surely notice any error in this writing. She loved a good ‘cuppa cawfee’, doo-wop music, shopping with her daughter, and playing cards. Her favorite pastime was admonishing her husband for talking too much. She lovingly overfed everyone who sat down at her table and made an excellent Italian salad. She would often break out into song and was a firm believer that Billy Gilman should have won the last season of The Voice. She was a dedicated mother, always looking out for the best interests of her children. She spent countless hours lending her ears and offering helpful advice to her loved ones. She was a generous and funny woman, and she will be missed tremendously.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Lynchburg Dialysis Center and at Lynchburg General Hospital for the compassionate care they provided to Carole.
