Carolyn Coleman Cawthorne, 74, of Lynchburg died Sunday September 20, 2015. She was the loving wife of Norman Ray Cawthorne.
Carolyn was born July 26, 1941 in Charlottesville, daughter of the late Cecil D. Coleman and Harriet V. Humphrey Wood and her step-father Allus “Pete” Wood. Carolyn was a graduate of Lane High School in Charlottesville. She retired from the Plaza Bowl in 1985. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Carolyn was a second mom to many who loved her dearly. She loved bowling, bird watching and watching all sports on tv.
In addition to her husband she is survived by daughters; Kimberley Barger Tuggle and Karen Barger Stallings both of Asheville, NC, Norman’s daughters; Tricia Cawthorne Scott and Jacklyn Cawthorne Henson both of Lynchburg, her grandchildren: Chandler Stallings of Atlanta, GA, Casey Scott, Jessey Scott and Reagan Henson all of Lynchburg, a brother Danny Coleman and wife Carol of Scottsville, aunt June Humphrey of Plant City, FL, and dear family friend Sue Ware of Asheville, NC, along with nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
At Carolyn’s request there is to be no memorial service, but a celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Lynchburg General Hospital, Hospice Care and the wonderful staff at the Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center and to Dr. John MacNeill, Jr. and his staff.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Centra Hospice or to the Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center.
